When it comes to local food in Austin, TX, there are plenty of choices. We have decided to check out Ms P's Electric Cock, a food trailer in the South Congress district that serves up some of Austin's freshest chicken.
It is hard to drive north on South Congress Avenue toward downtown Austin and not see the shiny Airstream food trailer with the big "CHICKEN" sign above it. Eventually, you will finally be compelled to stop and see what it's all about. Trust us, you will not be disappointed!
While the bucket of crispy fried chicken sounded delicious, we stopped in on a Sunday during brunch time so we decided to try the chicken and waffles special. From noon to close, you get two juicy chicken tenderloins along with a waffle for only $6. Do not expect this to be a "fast food" trailer as the food is cooked fresh when your order is placed.
The chicken was very juicy and flavorful. The breading was thin and crispy enough to give the chicken crunch while all the flavor of the fresh, local free range chicken hit your taste buds. The waffles were freshly made as well and had just the right crisp to them. The flavor of the waffles, syrup, and chicken allows your taste buds to experience pure ecstasy.
While the food was amazing, you also look for exceptional customer service when you go to local joints like Ms P's Electric Cock. From the time we ordered to the time we left, we got the best in hospitality from Ms P and her help.
This trip definitely satisfied the chicken and waffles craving but after seeing the rest of the menu, it won't be long before we head back to try the other menu items. As good as the chicken tenderloins were, the bucket of chicken should be pure bliss. Not to mention the Truffle Mac & Cheese, Farm Frites, and the rest of the menu items.
Also don't forget, Ms P's Electric Cock is now serving breakfast!
For some of the best chicken you will find in Austin, and some would argue best in the world, you have to stop at Ms P's Electric Cock food trailer on Congress Avenue. The location is great for a lunch trip from downtown, break from shopping in the SoCo district, or a night out.
