Speaking of Olde World, the name “Consilina” refers to the small mountain village in southern Italy called Sala Consilina. Our dining room walls feature large murals portraying historical scenes and expansive overlooks of this beautiful region. It is the ancestral hometown of Mariah Keyrouz, wife of Consilina Pizzeria’s owner/operator Raymond Keyrouz. Raymond emigrated from Lebanon during Lebanese Civil War in 1982 to Austin, Texas where he met Mariah while attending college at Southwest Texas State University. The two moved to Bastrop in 1996 and five years later Raymond left his full-time career at Federal Express to open Daddy’s Grill; appropriately named as he is the father of five loving children. It was an instant success, bringing exciting new options to the neighborhood menu. He later partnered with Khalil Younes to open Cedar’s Mediterranean Grill.
